Abandoned Room Playing Cards Designed by Rick Davidson
Wow! This came out of nowhere! Abandoned Room Playing Cards are designed by Rick Davidson for the world-renowned magician, Dynamo. The stunning deck has been created for Dynamo’s Abandoned Room show, an “underground speakeasy” for magic.
The deck spots a stunning gold and green foil with detailed ornamentation on the tuck. The inspiration for the design of the Abandoned deck is strongly influenced by the location for the Abandoned Room show. Dynamo is currently performing at the Mandrake in London, a very unique high-end hotel that features a multi-story wall of ivy. Rick told Kardify,
Of course, the name of the show plays a strong part in the design, the initial concept being a forgotten wrought iron door that welcomes you into the abandoned room. We began with mood boards of the hotel, ivy, and ruins and took it from there. With the obvious focus being magic, I felt it important to keep the courts a standard design but wanted to improve on the clunky rough face cards generally used. Every court is redrawn and carefully refined, with attention paid to clarity of the pips and numbers. My hope is that they will feel familiar yet superior.
As Dynamo takes his performances to the edge, Rick wanted to push the printer’s limits with detailed foiling and embossing and highest quality stock. Rick continued,
I loved working with the Dynamo team and I hope people at the shows and who grab the limited supply on the website will really enjoy the attention to detail in this deck.
The deck will be available at the Abandoned Room but a limited quantity has been made available online. According to Dynamo on his Instagram post (@dynamomagician),
So excited to receive a shipment of these super limited edition @abandonedroom luxury playing cards! My team and I have spent the last six months going over every detail from design to the actual finish. They will be available at the @abandonedroom but I’ve put a very limited amount on the store for those collectors who can’t wait!
